Antique Charles Bourne Vase – £125
Description
A beautiful and rare antique Charles Bourne cylindrical vase from around 1820. It has a pretty peachy coloured background and cartouches featuring beautiful hand painted roses.
Charles Bourne ran one of the smaller factories in Staffordshire. Based in Fenton (now part of Stoke-on-Trent) he took over an existing factory which was originally built by Josiah Spode for his second son Samuel. Bourne probably inherited some of the moulds left at the Spode factory and this spill vase has a form very close to that of some Spode spill vases.mBourne only produced decorated porcelain for about fourteen years, from 1818 to c.1832. The scarcity and quality of Bourne porcelains have made them highly collectable.
