The Importance of Accessories

In addition to adding soft furnishings such as rugs, cushions and curtains, by adding purely decorative pieces such as ornaments, ginger jars, candlesticks, wall plates as well as functional items like vases and bowls,  you can really enhance a space and make it reflect your interests and personality. They make a room unique to you and your style and taste, without accessories however beautifully decorated a room is, it can be bland, feel unloved and impersonal. 

You must however be careful not to add too many pieces for the sake of adding more ‘stuff’ which can make a room feel cluttered, but by choosing some well placed key pieces you can add personality and help delineate and identify a space. Additionally if you are on a budget, deceptively small changes such as adding the odd interesting piece can total transform a space.
