Description

A gorgeous antique cockatoo figurine, made in France by Desvres Fourmaintraux and dating to around c.1890. It is beautifully modelled and has a vibrant majolica-style glaze and glass eyes. It features a boldly coloured body with green and yellow plumage, a vivid blue crest and painted detailing in orange, black, and red. It is perched on a well decorated tree stump base with a mottled, impressionistic pattern. It has some small chips to the side and base of the tail – please see photographs.
