Lioness and Cubs
Description
Heading out early on safari one morning in the Okavango Delta in Botswana we went in search of lions. After searching for about 2 hours there was still no sight of them so we decided to head for breakfast. Suddenly out of the bushes a herd of around 15 elephants all clumped together around their calves came moving at speed and then they started trumpeting. It was then we also saw a number of lionesses and their cubs scattering through the bushes. When all had calmed down and the lionesses has reunited with their cubs (the pride was 22 individuals) there was a wonderful scene of greeting, nuzzling and licking and comforting the cubs who were all a bit traumatised by the mornings antics.
