SOLD – William Adams Chinese Bird Canister

Decorative Objects

Description

A lovely William Adams Chinese Bird canister, which is a pretty a decorative piece in its own right but also makes a great vase. It has a different painted Chinoiserie scene of people on each side of the body and an ochre coloured rim. This pattern was first introduced in 1780 as one of the first Chinese style patterns produced in English pottery. It was then copied and introduced again around 1913 and was then very popular through 1920s and 1930s. A beautiful example of this pretty pattern – definitely a hard one for me to sell but I can’t keep everything!
